Samsung SDI and Stellantis team up to build battery manufacturing plant

Samsung SDI and Stellantis Group have signed a memorandum of understanding to build a second battery manufacturing plant in the United States under the joint venture StarPlus Energy, with an initial annual production capacity of 34GWh, scheduled to start production in 2027. Previously, the two companies had established their first battery manufacturing plant in Kokomo, Indiana, which is scheduled to start production in the first quarter of 2025, and the annual output will increase from the initial 23GWh to 33GWh.
