Stellantis, the world's fourth-largest automotive group, is considering using sodium-ion batteries to reduce the weight of its electric vehicles. Sodium-ion batteries are considered a "semi-solid" battery that can provide similar range to solid-state batteries while avoiding high initial costs and volatility issues. Stellantis aims to halve the weight of the battery to reduce the weight of its upcoming Jeep Recon and Wagoneer S models.
