US solid-state battery maker ION plans to build large-scale factory

On May 6, ION Storage Systems, a US solid-state battery manufacturer, announced that it will build the largest solid-state battery factory in the US near its headquarters in Beltsville, Maryland. Production is expected to begin this year with an initial capacity of 1 megawatt-hour (MWh), which will be increased to 10 MWh by early 2025, with the ultimate goal of reaching 500 MWh in 2028.
