The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that four new advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technologies will be included in the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) starting with the 2026 model year. The four technologies include blind spot warning (BSW), blind spot intervention (BSI), lane keeping assist (LKA) and pedestrian automatic emergency braking (PAEB). This decision will help improve the performance evaluation of ADAS technologies in NCAP.
