Suzuki Thailand Factory History Review: From Establishment to Closure

53
Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor has announced plans to close its car plant in Thailand by the end of 2025 and stop producing cars and trucks in Thailand. The Suzuki Motor Thailand (SMT) plant has been producing cars since March 2012, and has a history of more than ten years. The plant was once a wholly-owned subsidiary of Suzuki, with 800 employees and an annual production of 60,000 vehicles. However, due to changes in the market environment, the plant's production fell to 7,579 vehicles in fiscal 2023, far below the peak of 60,000 vehicles.
