According to Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association, China's imports of cars have continued to decline at an average annual rate of 8% from 1.24 million in 2017 to only 800,000 in 2023. The number of imported cars in October 2024 was 44,000, a year-on-year decrease of 45%.
