US automaker General Motors announced that as part of its strategy to transform and produce next-generation vehicles, the company will close its production operations in Colombia and Ecuador. The Colmotores plant in Colombia has stopped production, while the plant in Ecuador will cease operations at the end of August. The move will affect about 850 Colombian employees. GM said that despite the closure of production operations, the company will not withdraw from the markets in these two countries and will continue to support local dealers.
