Stellantis to build new plant in South Africa, considering production of new energy vehicles

Automaker Stellantis plans to start construction of its first car factory in South Africa this month and is considering producing new energy vehicles locally. The new plant is located in the Special Economic Zone of the Eastern Cape Province and is expected to start producing Peugeot Landtrek pickup trucks at the end of 2025. The factory aims to achieve an annual production of 50,000 vehicles within 18 months and then increase to 90,000 vehicles.
