Subaru and Panasonic Energy have reached a basic cooperation agreement to supply cylindrical lithium-ion batteries for Subaru's future pure electric vehicles. Since July 2023, the two parties have been discussing Panasonic's latest high-capacity cylindrical batteries, which are expected to be 4680 batteries or similar models. Panasonic plans to launch the first batch of 4680 batteries in 2024. Currently, Subaru has only one pure electric vehicle, Solterra, which uses square batteries from CATL.
