Intel and Japanese companies work together to develop chip manufacturing automation technology

Intel will work with 14 Japanese companies to develop technology to automate the "back-end" chip manufacturing process, such as packaging. In the next few years, the Intel-led group will build an experimental back-end production line in Japan with the goal of achieving full automation.
