Nissan-Honda merger born out of 'desperation'

The merger of Nissan and Honda was not voluntary, but out of helplessness. Since the two companies have similar competitive positions in the market, similar products, and similar brands, it is difficult to find synergies. However, since Nissan is facing serious financial difficulties and Honda also needs to deal with the rise of Chinese automakers, the two companies are forced to seek a merger to enhance their competitiveness.
