QuantumScape has strong investors, including Volkswagen Group, SAIC Group and Bill Gates

The investors behind QuantumScape are not to be underestimated, including Volkswagen Group, SAIC Motor and Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Volkswagen has been working with QuantumScape since 2012, and in June 2018, it increased its investment and acquired a board seat. Initially, Volkswagen planned to build a solid-state battery production line by 2025, with a total investment of up to $100 million. After a long wait, in December 2022, QuantumScape finally delivered the first batch of 24-layer solid-state batteries to automotive partners including Volkswagen Group for testing.
