Sanan Optoelectronics: Leader in the Silicon Carbide Vertical Industry Chain

Sanan Optoelectronics, as a leading company in the field of compound semiconductors in China, is also the first company in China to realize the vertical industrial chain layout of silicon carbide (SiC). It has the industrial integration capabilities of substrate materials, epitaxial growth and chip manufacturing. At present, its main production capacity is concentrated in the Hunan Sanan Semiconductor Factory. According to official information, from the end of 2023 to the beginning of 2024, its 6-inch silicon carbide production capacity is about 18,000 to 20,000 pieces per month. Hunan Sanan's original supporting capacity planning for the silicon carbide vertical integration business platform is 360,000 pieces per year. However, in 2023, Sanan Optoelectronics cooperated with STMicroelectronics to establish a joint venture for silicon carbide device manufacturing, with a planned production capacity of 10,000 pieces per week for silicon carbide power wafers. Therefore, Sanan Optoelectronics also needs to build a new 8-inch silicon carbide substrate factory for this joint venture and sign a long-term supply agreement to ensure the supply of raw materials. The planned annual production capacity of this newly built 8-inch silicon carbide substrate factory is 480,000 pieces.
