CATL R&D output and patents

As of 2023, CATL has obtained nearly 10,000 patent authorizations, including 8,137 in China and 1,850 overseas. In addition, there are 19,500 patents in the application process. It is expected that the number of new patent applications will exceed 10,000 in 2023. On average, each master's and doctoral student applies for 0.87 patents per year, and the average cost of each patent is about 1.43 million yuan.
