STMicroelectronics' vertical integration layout in the silicon carbide industry chain

STMicroelectronics has adopted a strategy of "acquisition + self-construction + outsourcing" in the silicon carbide industry chain to enhance the resilience of the supply chain and better cope with future demand growth. In 2019, STMicroelectronics acquired Swedish silicon carbide substrate manufacturer Norstel AB and has its own SiC substrate plant in Norrköping, Sweden. In addition, STMicroelectronics has also built a new SiC substrate plant in Catania, Italy, which is expected to start production in 2024.
