Israeli gallium nitride device manufacturer VisIC and Austrian transportation technology company AVL announced a partnership to jointly develop high-efficiency gallium nitride inverter technology for electric vehicles (EVs). VisIC recently conducted a test at AVL's German factory. The inverter built based on its silicon-based gallium nitride D3GaN device achieved a baseline system efficiency level of 99.67% at 10kHz and an efficiency of more than 99.8% at 5kHz, which is 0.5% higher than the equivalent silicon carbide inverter and reduces energy losses by more than 60%.
