BYD Indonesia plant plans to start commercial production in early 2026

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan recently said that Indonesian officials have met with BYD Company to finalize BYD's investment in Indonesia. BYD plans to start commercial production in Indonesia in early 2026. In January this year, BYD launched three pure electric models in Indonesia-Dolphin, Seal, and ATTO3 (Yuan PLUS) to further expand its market share in Southeast Asia. Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs of Indonesia, announced at the press conference that BYD will invest US$1.3 billion to build an automobile factory in Indonesia with an expected production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. Zhao Ying, President of BYD Indonesia, said the company is on schedule to start construction of these facilities later this year and will establish up to 50 sales outlets across Indonesia by the end of 2024.
