GlobalFoundries plans to build new semiconductor factories and expand existing operations in the United States

GlobalFoundries, the world's third-largest contract chipmaker, plans to build a new semiconductor production plant in the United States and expand existing operations in Malta and Burlington, Vermont. The move is backed by funding from the U.S. government, including a $1.5 billion grant and a $1.6 billion loan.
