Toyota Motor will build a new pure electric vehicle factory in China

Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan announced that it will wholly own and operate a new factory in China to produce pure electric vehicles (EVs) around 2027. This is the first time the company has independently carried out such operations in China. This move breaks Toyota's long-standing joint venture production model with local Chinese companies. The main products of the new factory will be Lexus brand cars sold in the Chinese market.
