Toyota plans to build a wholly-owned factory in China to produce electric vehicles

Toyota Motor announced that it will build a new electric vehicle factory in Shanghai, China, mainly to produce Lexus electric models for the Chinese market. Unlike the existing joint venture model, this new factory will be Toyota's first wholly owned and operated factory in China. It is reported that Toyota has determined the land for the factory in Shanghai, and the factory is expected to start operation in 2027.
