Avita launches new product "Rock Chassis", sparking industry controversy

On December 24, Avita launched its latest product at the press conference - the CIIC integrated intelligent chassis named "Rock Chassis". The product mainly emphasizes intelligence and safety, and is positioned as an efficient and safe chassis. However, a sentence made by Chen Zhuo, CEO of Avita Automobile, in his speech caused widespread controversy. He said that Avita would only use batteries from CATL and would not use batteries from any other brand. This statement was interpreted as considering all non-CATL power battery brands as "miscellaneous brands", including BYD, Sinotruk, Guoxuan High-tech, Honeycomb Power, Xinwanda, Yiwei Lithium Energy, Farasis Energy, etc. In fact, Avita does only use batteries provided by CATL, and CATL even specially designed an H-type power battery for Avita 12. This is because Avita has a close cooperative relationship with CATL. Avita was founded in July 2018 and has 3,515 employees and 22 shareholders. The largest shareholder is Changan Automobile, with a 40.994% stake, while the largest external shareholder is CATL, with a 14.0957% stake. At the press conference, Chen Zhuo also announced that Avita will be the world's first car equipped with CATL's rock-solid chassis and is expected to be released next year, which is exciting.
