NIO's Intelligent Driving R&D Department Announces Organizational Structure Adjustment Plan

According to media reports, NIO's intelligent driving R&D department recently announced a new organizational structure adjustment plan. It is planned to launch an end-to-end intelligent driving solution in the first quarter of next year. The newly established technical committee will be responsible for integrating various major capabilities. Ren Shaoqing, head of NIO's intelligent driving, will directly manage the team and personally lead the large model department. Previously, the department was led by Peng Chao, head of perception algorithms, and now reports to Ren Shaoqing. The heads of key areas, such as the heads of the driving and parking solutions and the data closed-loop solutions, will report directly to Ren Shaoqing. The reason for this adjustment is mainly that the progress has not met expectations, mainly because "the organization needs further adjustment." Poor cooperation between departments is the main problem faced by employees. For example, the map department headed by Yuan Hongyuan undertakes a considerable part of the end-to-end data work, which is crucial to the deep cooperation with the large model department in order to quickly advance the project. The regulation and control department headed by Qin Hailong also needs to cooperate and support data with the large model department.
