China removes foreign ownership restrictions on passenger car manufacturing

Starting from January 1, 2022, China has lifted restrictions on foreign investment in passenger car manufacturing, allowing the same foreign company to establish more joint ventures in China to produce similar complete vehicle products. This policy change has made it possible for Toyota to set up a wholly-owned factory.
