Guangdong Province releases energy conservation and carbon reduction action plan

The People's Government of Guangdong Province recently issued the "Guangdong Province 2024-2025 Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Action Plan", which aims to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions through a series of measures. The plan proposes to optimize the layout of non-ferrous metal production capacity, strictly control the new production capacity of copper, alumina and other smelting, and vigorously develop the recycled metal industry. The goal is to achieve a recycled metal supply share of more than 24% by the end of 2025. In addition, the access of new non-ferrous metal projects will be strictly controlled, and new and expanded electrolytic aluminum projects must reach the energy efficiency benchmark level and environmental performance Class A level.
