Application and advantages of SiC in motor drive

Using SiC in motor drives can improve efficiency. For example, replacing silicon diodes in the boost circuit with SiC Schottky diodes can improve efficiency by 0.5% without redesigning. If the inverter stage is upgraded with SiC MOSFET devices, the efficiency can be further improved by 0.4%, resulting in a total efficiency improvement of 0.9%.
