US government funds domestic semiconductor companies

In order to reduce its dependence on China, the US government has been seeking to reduce its dependence on mature process semiconductors. To this end, the US government has provided Texas Instruments with up to $1.6 billion in funding to set up new factories in the United States. In addition, the US government has provided GlobalFoundries with a $1.5 billion subsidy to help it expand semiconductor production, thereby strengthening the US supply chain.
