Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi start merger talks, plan to sign final agreement in 2025

Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi, three Japanese automakers, announced that they have begun negotiations on a possible merger. The goal of this merger is to create a new entity with annual sales of more than 30 trillion yen (about 1.4 trillion yuan) and operating profit of more than 3 trillion yen (about 139.85 billion yuan). It is expected to sign a final agreement in June 2025 and complete the listing of the jointly held company on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in August 2026.
