Effect of Mn/Fe Ratio on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Al-Cu Alloy

The study found that with the increase of Mn/Fe ratio, the volume fraction of blocky Al7Cu2 (FeMn) phase in Al-Cu alloy gradually increased, while the volume fraction of needle-shaped β-Fe phase gradually decreased. When the extrusion pressure was 75 MPa, the iron-rich phase in Al-Cu alloy with the same Mn/Fe ratio was finer and more dispersed. In addition, changing the Mn/Fe ratio in Al-Cu alloy can affect the type, size and distribution of iron-rich phase, thereby improving the mechanical properties of the alloy.
