New version of battery recycling regulations released to promote healthy development of the industry

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Industry Standard Conditions for Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Power Batteries of New Energy Vehicles (2024 Edition)". This standard is based on the 2019 version, adjusted and optimized in response to new changes and trends in the current industry, and puts forward higher and newer requirements. The new standard particularly emphasizes the importance of corporate R&D investment, requiring companies to spend no less than 3% of their annual R&D and improvement revenue on comprehensive utilization of waste power batteries. At the same time, the new standard also clarifies the specific requirements for cascade utilization companies and recycling companies, including technology research and development, patent applications, and the treatment of waste power batteries.
