At present, major flash memory manufacturers have launched QLC NAND products. Since 2018, Samsung, Micron, Toshiba, Western Digital, etc. have released 96-layer QLC NAND. Yangtze Memory also launched the industry's first 128-layer QLC NAND flash memory in 2020. In 2021, when Samsung released 176-layer QLC NAND flash memory, it greatly increased the write speed to 320MB/s. This makes the write speed of QLC NAND flash memory exceed that of mechanical hard disks (HDDs) to a large extent, providing a basis for QLC NAND flash memory to replace mechanical hard disks. In 2022, SK Hynix demonstrated 192-layer QLC NAND flash memory. Last year, Samsung claimed that it was developing more than 1,000TB, or PB-level QLC NAND solid-state drives SSDs.
