Toyota adjusts electric vehicle sales target, plans to produce 2.5 million electric vehicles per year by 2030

Toyota Motor changed its leadership in 2023, with Akio Toyoda stepping back to become chairman and former Lexus president Tsuneharu Sato promoted to president of Toyota Motor. The new president proposed a new goal: by 2026, Toyota Group's annual sales of electric vehicles will reach 1.5 million. However, six months later, Toyota adjusted the plan and lowered the sales target to 1 million. According to the latest plan, Toyota will produce 2.5 million electric vehicles per year by 2030.
