On December 20, Sun Yat-sen University issued an obituary, announcing that Zhang Mingqiu, a member of the Communist Party of China and a famous polymer materials scientist, died of illness on December 20, 2024 at the age of 63. Zhang Mingqiu was the director of the Key Laboratory of Polymer Composites and Functional Materials of the Ministry of Education, a professor at the School of Chemistry of Sun Yat-sen University, and a doctoral supervisor.
