Renesas Electronics Signs 10-Year Silicon Carbide Wafer Supply Agreement with Wolfspeed

Renesas Electronics has reached a 10-year silicon carbide wafer supply agreement with Wolfspeed and paid a $2 billion deposit to ensure supply. Under the agreement, Wolfspeed will supply 150mm silicon carbide die and epitaxial wafers to Renesas Electronics starting in 2025, and will provide 200mm silicon carbide die and epitaxial wafers after its John Palmour silicon carbide manufacturing center is fully operational. This long-term supply agreement is designed to support the industry's transition from silicon to silicon carbide semiconductor power devices.
