German automaker Audi has decided to close its production plant in Belgium due to financial problems. The plant mainly produces two models, the Audi Q8 e-tron and the Q8 e-tron Sportback. The two cars were launched in 2019 and 2022 respectively, but sales were not ideal, with only 49,001 units sold in 2023. Audi originally planned to achieve full electrification by 2033, but CEO Gernot Döllner said the brand will remain "flexible."
