BYD paid Bahia state government 287.8 million reais for factory land

In order to build a new factory in Bahia, Brazil, BYD has paid 287.8 million reais (about 58 million U.S. dollars) to the Bahia state government to purchase a total area of ​​4.6 million square meters (6,900 acres) of factory land. This land is located on part of the original Ford Brazil plant. BYD said it will build new factory facilities from scratch, and the existing old facilities will be used by suppliers to produce parts for new cars.
