EnerSys plans second lithium-ion battery gigafactory in South Carolina

US battery manufacturer EnerSys announced that it will build a second lithium-ion battery super factory in South Carolina, with an estimated annual production capacity of 4GWh. The factory will invest approximately US$500 million, with construction scheduled to begin in early 2025 and be operational by the end of 2027. The products will cover the commercial and industrial fields, as well as the needs of the defense industry and military departments. It is expected to create approximately 500 jobs locally.
