The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released a new version of the "Industry Standard Conditions for Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Power Batteries for New Energy Vehicles"

In order to promote the further development of the comprehensive utilization industry of waste power batteries of new energy vehicles, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revised the "Standard Conditions for the Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Power Batteries of New Energy Vehicles (2019 Edition)" and released a new version on December 16, 2024. The new version of the "Standard Conditions" focuses on four aspects: First, it optimizes the technical indicator system, improves the minimum requirements for lithium recovery rate in the smelting process, and adds technical indicators for electrode powder recovery rate and impurity aluminum content. Second, it updates relevant standards and specifications, including the disassembly and coding standards for waste power batteries of new energy vehicles. Third, it adds requirements for lithium-ion batteries of electric bicycles, prohibits the use of batteries for cascade utilization in electric bicycles, and requires recycling companies to handle waste lithium-ion batteries of electric bicycles. Finally, it emphasizes the importance of product quality management and enterprise site selection, proposes that enterprises should establish a quality assurance mechanism with product traceability and accountability, and adds mandatory standard requirements for recycled products.
