Chile plans to expand lithium carbonate production

The Chilean government plans to double lithium carbonate production to about 250,000 tons of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) by 2025. Currently, only the Atacama Salt Lake in Chile is producing lithium carbonate. Both SQM and Albemarle of the United States have obtained quotas from the Atacama Salt Lake for production by signing leases.
