Honda teams up with taxi companies to promote Robotaxi

On May 7, Honda Motor announced that it will support the driverless taxi business and cooperate with large Japanese taxi companies to jointly promote the research and development and application of the business, and strive to start the service in Tokyo in 2026. To this end, Honda will ask the Japanese government to relax necessary regulations. It is reported that Honda will provide vehicles and taxi APP systems, and undertake a package of operational support business, including remote monitoring business that is indispensable to ensure the safety of autonomous driving. The Japanese business model of division of labor and cooperation with the operating entity will encourage existing taxi companies to join.
