BYD increases R&D investment to surpass Tesla

In order to accelerate the development of smart car technology, BYD injected about $5.5 billion into research and development in 2023, exceeding Tesla's $3.97 billion. BYD said its research and development expenses increased by 112.15% compared with 2022 due to increased salary payments and material consumption.
