BMW factory introduces wireless charging AGV

FFT, a supplier of turnkey automated production solutions, has expanded its portfolio with a new automated guided vehicle (AGV) system in collaboration with Wiferion, a supplier of inductive charging technology. Charging systems from FFTigv and Wiferion have been deployed at the BMW Group's Leipzig plant. FFT has developed a new production facility at the plant to fully leverage the capabilities of AGVs and wireless charging to increase productivity and efficiency. "By charging the AGVs during production, we eliminate downtime and ensure 24/7 availability of the vehicles," said Niels Kramm, Mechanical Project Manager at FFT.
