US solid-state battery maker ION plans to build a large factory in Maryland

ION Storage Systems (ION), a US solid-state battery manufacturer, announced the construction of the largest solid-state battery factory in the United States near its headquarters in Beltsville, Maryland. It is expected to start production of the pilot line this year with an initial capacity of 1 megawatt-hour (MWh), which is expected to increase to 10 megawatt-hours (MWh) by early 2025, with a long-term goal of reaching a capacity of 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) in 2028.
