BYD develops second-generation blade battery system, expected to be released in August 2024

BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu revealed that the company is developing a second-generation blade battery system, which is expected to be released in August 2024. The energy density of the new battery is expected to reach 190Wh/kg, which is significantly higher than the 150Wh/kg of the existing blade battery. The second-generation blade battery will be smaller in size and lighter in weight, helping to reduce power consumption per 100 kilometers and improve the cruising range and performance of electric vehicles.
