EU approves Italian government's 1.3 billion euros subsidy for Silicon Box

In order to strengthen Europe's competitiveness in the global semiconductor industry, the European Commission has approved the Italian government's 1.3 billion euro subsidy to semiconductor packaging and testing company Silicon Box. The funds will be used to build an advanced packaging and testing facility in Novara, Piedmont, Italy. The plant plans to use panel-level packaging technology and is expected to start construction in the second half of 2025 and start initial production in the first quarter of 2028.
