Japan, EU plan to cooperate on chips and battery materials to reduce reliance on China

Japan and the European Union plan to negotiate cooperation on advanced materials for next-generation chips and batteries to reduce dependence on China. EU Innovation and Research Commissioner Ivanova said that establishing such a dialogue framework would benefit both sides. The framework will be launched as early as April in response to EU requests and aims to help reduce dependence on China for materials such as rare metals.
