BYD wins award in Japan as pure electric vehicle sales are low

Although Japan is one of the world's largest car exporters, its domestic pure electric vehicle sales are low. In the first half of 2023, only 2% of new car sales in Japan were pure electric vehicles. However, Chinese automaker BYD has achieved significant results in Japan, with two of its models winning first and third place in Japan's annual electric vehicle awards.
