Tesla's Gigafactory faces challenges, returns to conservative path

Although Tesla has actively promoted Gigacasting to reduce production costs, auto manufacturing experts say the technology requires a large upfront investment and is complex and time-consuming to implement. Given the challenges Tesla has historically faced in launching complex and innovative vehicles, the company's conservative approach to Gigacasting is not surprising. Currently, suppliers have begun to adapt Tesla's three-piece process for the next generation of vehicles.
