Porsche Japan head moved to China to tackle sales slump

German luxury carmaker Porsche has transferred its head of Japanese operations, Philipp von Witzendorff, to China as vice president and chief operating officer to help the company reverse a sharp decline in sales in China. The appointment will take effect on January 1 next year. Prior to joining Porsche, Philipp von Witzendorff served as vice president of Canadian sales at Mercedes-Benz. After reaching a record 95,671 units in 2021, Porsche's sales in China fell in 2022. In 2023, the company's sales in China continued to decline, falling 15% year-on-year to 79,283 units.
