Qualcomm acquires Nuvia, expects to save up to $1.4 billion in Arm payments per year

According to Qualcomm's internal documents, they acquired a startup called Nuvia in 2021, and they expect this move to save up to $1.4 billion in Arm payments each year. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon revealed this forecast when testifying before a jury in federal court in Delaware. He said the acquisition was justified because it helped reduce the patent royalties Qualcomm paid to Arm.
