Nvidia's automotive chip development is hindered, and many car companies are considering abandoning it

It is reported that due to the continuous delay of Nvidia's flagship in-vehicle AI chip Thor, many domestic car companies are considering giving up the use of the chip. The Thor chip, which was originally planned to be mass-produced in mid-2024, has now been postponed to the middle of next year, and it is still an entry-level version. Affected by this, Xiaopeng Motors is considering shelving the use of the Thor chip and instead accelerating the use of its self-developed smart driving chip "Turing". At present, the chip has been taped out and is undergoing stability and performance testing. Similarly, NIO did not reserve Nvidia's next-generation chip Thor, but chose to equip its new product on its self-developed smart driving chip "Shenji NX9031".
